About these paintings. The artist works in his own style of brush stroke impressionism. This gives the work a feeling of immediacy, charm and a sense of place without didactic detail or slavish copying of the particulars of a scene. Viewed close up the viewer becomes aware of the artist's marks which when viewed at a distance merge into trees, lakes, hills and valleys or anything the artist sees or imagines in his world. Most of his paintings are based on sketches and digital photographs that he and his wife take in their travels, out in the Oklahoma country side or on their property in Chandler, Oklahoma.
